Luckens Road Medical Centre began operating on Luckens Road, West Harbour, in 1979. On the 11th of April 2016, it became Hobsonville Family Doctors at its new location on 124 Hobsonville Road. We are easy to find on 124 Hobsonville Road, on the first floor of the new building in front of the new Countdown.
Our clinic features 5 GP clinic rooms and 3 nursing areas. There is a Pharmacy, Physiotherapist and Podiatrist conveniently located in the same building. There is a big lift, mobility access and disabled parking at our front door, and plenty of free parking available outside.
Dr Paul Nicholls

Paul joined the practice in 1988, after moving from the UK. He trained as a General Practitioner in Brighton. He has a post-graduate qualification and special interest in Musculoskeletal Medicine. Over the last 32 years Paul has enjoyed working alongside a skilled team and provide the highest quality services to the local community.
Paul's regular hours are Monday all day, and sessions on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Dr Torrance Merkle

He / Him
Torrance joined as a full time GP in December 2015. He was born and bred in Auckland and studied Medicine at Auckland University, before working in all 4 of the hospitals in Auckland. Torrance's interests include Youth, Sexual and LGBT+ Health, Diabetes and other long term conditions, and Sleep and Mental Health.
Torrance is experienced prescribing PrEP for the prevention of HIV (read more here). He offers video consultations for existing patients (for follow-up or ongoing management of existing conditions).
Torrance's regular hours are Monday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons, and all day Fridays. Torrance's late night session is Thursdays until 7pm.
Torrance 's books are closed and he is no longer taking new patients.
Dr Julyan Lawry

She / Her
Julyan has been with Luckens Road Medical Centre since 1998. She is a mother to twin girls and enjoys all aspects of General Practice.
Julyan works part-time, and her regular hours are Tuesday afternoons, Wednesday afternoons, and Thursday mornings.
Julyan is no longer seeing new patients.
Dr Halima Nati (Maternity Leave)

She / Her
Halima grew up locally attending Colwill Primary School and then Massey High School, before going on to study Medicine at the University of Auckland.
She takes great pride working in the same area that she grew up, and has been at Hobsonville Family Doctors since 2018. Halima enjoys all aspects of General Practice.
Her current hours are Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays all day, and Thursday mornings.
Dr Cole Rudolph
MBChB, DipPaed, FRNZCGP
He / Him
Cole joined us full time in June 2019. Cole grew up in Whangarei and has settled into Auckland life with his wife who is also a General Practitioner. Cole particularly enjoys working with children having worked in paediatrics in each of the hospitals in Auckland and having also completed his Diploma in Paediatrics. He has an interest in Skin Cancer medicine and has obtained a Certificate in Skin Cancer from the Skin Cancer College Australasia.
Cole is enthusiastic about the outdoors, sports and travelling.
His current hours are all day Monday and Tuesday, Wednesday morning, Thursday afternoons (late night session until 7pm), and all day Friday
Dr Gretchen Laubscher

Gretchen joined us in February 2020. Originally from South Africa, Gretchen studied at the University of Pretoria, where she also met her husband.
They moved to New Zealand in 2007 where Gretchen initially worked in Accident and Medical clinics in Whangarei and Auckland, before completing her GP specialist training. Gretchen enjoys all aspects of general practice, the variety and complexity, and the privilege of building relationships with patients and their families over the years.
In her spare time she enjoys baking, board games, entertaining friends and especially spending time with her husband and their 2 young daughters.
She currently works all day on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays.
Dr Carolyn Bulman

She / Her
Carolyn joined the practice in October of 2021 after relocating from Canada. She grew up in Winnipeg, which is where she completed her medical school training. She then completed her Family Medicine residency in Calgary, and practiced there for an additional five years. She moved to Auckland with her husband and two young daughters.
Carolyn enjoys all aspects of general practice, with a special interest in Women’s Health.'
Carolyn works full days on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, and Thursday afternoons.
Dr Zulaiha Ghazaly Giado

She / Her
Zulaiha grew up in Sri Lanka and lived in Ireland prior to moving to NZ as a fresh graduate in 2009. Before specialising in family medicine she worked at North Shore, Waitakere, and Auckland hospitals as a Medical registrar, which gave her a good foundation and experience in internal medicine and a variety of sub-specialties.
She has a special interest in Women’s health and contraception and is very passionate about providing Women’s Health services. She is also an accredited LARC ( IUD/ Implant) provider for Waitemata.
She currently works mornings on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
Dr Jann Singer (Retired)

Jann joined the practice in 1986, 7 years after Dr Stephen Chalcroft and his nurse Judy had started the practice. Over the last 34 years she has enjoyed working along side a team of doctors and nurses who have dedicated many years to the families in West Auckland. She enjoys all aspects of general practice and has done post graduate studies in Paediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Mental health and Adolescent medicine.
Jann retired in April 2021 although may be doing some locum cover at times.
Health Improvement Practitioner (HIP)

She / Her
Morgan joined the practice in September 2021. She grew up in Texas and moved to New Zealand with her husband in 2008. She has practiced Social Work in Auckland since 2010 with a focus on children and families before completing specialist training as a Health Improvement Practitioner. In this new role she focuses on helping people who are feeling the impact of stress, health issues or problems with daily living. She can see people of any age for any issue affecting their health and general well-being.
When not at work, Morgan enjoys time with her two young children, building and crafts and generally being creative.
Consults with Morgan are fully funded, with no patient co-pay. Sessions generally last 20-30 minutes and will look at pressing issues at the moment. They will include goal setting or agreed plans for improvement.
Morgan’s hours of work are Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 8:30 to 3pm.
BNurs, PGCert Advanced Nursing Practice
Adrienne has a Bachelor of Nursing and Post Graduate Certificate in Advanced Nursing (Primary Care), as well as being a cervical smear taker and trained phlebotomist (blood tests). Her nursing career spans over 30+ years in a variety of roles including laboratory nursing, maternity, accident and medical, and the Cardiac Cath lab at Auckland Hospital. She has done other other related work including working as a Field Officer for Multiple Sclerosis.
She has two grown sons and two grandchildren. When not with her family, she enjoys painting, travel, and long walks on the beach. Particular nursing interests are working with people with disabilities, women's health, and immunisations.
BHSc/BNurs, PGCert in Advanced Nursing Practice
Sophie joins the practice after working in the Emergency Department at Auckland City Hospital and prior to that at North Shore Hospital on a medical ward. Sophie was born and raised on the North Shore but spent her years studying at Otago.
Sophie is passionate about providing well rounded care for patients and is particularly interested in skin cancer detection and prevention, health education and National Screening Programmes. She is trained in cardiac monitoring, resuscitation and triaging.
Sophie has been a Hobsonville Point local for the past 3 years and enjoys doing the coastal walking loop and spending time at the local cafes, markets and heading to the beach when ever possible.
Melanie joined grew up and still lives in West Auckland. She joined Hobsonville Family Doctors in October 2019.
She has been working at the North Shore hospital and Waitakere hospital emergency departments for 16 years prior to her move to General Practice. She has also done work in the UK with refugees and district nursing. She is enthusiastic about gaining more knowledge in all aspects of Primary Care especially women's health, care of long term chronic conditions and wound care.
In between looking after her 3 daughters and working she enjoys DIY around the house and gardening.

Ali has has had previous experience in General Paediatric's at Starship Children’s Hospital before moving into Private Allergy clinic nursing.
She is passionate about health promotion in particular children’s health and
immunisations. She is also interested in the prevention and management of mental health conditions.
In her spare time Ali loves looking after family and spending time at the beach

Courtney-lee worked in the Waitakere hospital emergency department before joining us.
She really enjoys learning and has special interests in Assessment and Diagnostics. She would like to further develop her expertise in immunisations and wound care in primary care.
She lives locally and loves to care for her family and friends. She enjoys being at home, cleaning, gardening and caring for her young children. She loves the outdoors particularly BBQs and going to the beach.

Andrew joined the practice in November 2021 and has a background in Personal Training and Nutrition Coaching for the past 5 years. Andrew has also completed university studies in Mental Health and Addiction and continues to research and gain knowledge in these areas of well-being, with a particular interest in sleep and mindfulness and expertise in physical activity.
Andrew is a local to the Hobsonville area and was born and raised in West Auckland. His role at the clinic is to guide and empower people towards hauora. He is committed to working together and support people to understand and manage their long term conditions, while taking control over their general well-being using physical activity, nutrition, stress and self management skills.
Outside of the clinic, Andrew might be found at the beach reading, playing sport, hanging out with friends and family, or kicking up his feet to play games or watch sports, movies and the latest t.v series.
Consults with Andrew are fully funded, with no patient co-pay. Sessions generally last 20-30 minutes and will focus on improving physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. Appointments will include goal setting or agreed plans for improvement.
Andrew's hours of work are Tuesday and Wednesday 12-5pm, and Thursdays 12-4pm.
